Filmmaker. Enthusiast.

It was a cold, September morning. I had been puking since dawn. My hard-working mother, already in the minus for time off, popped out for a bit. She came back with tomato soup and a rental DVD of ‘Yellow Submarine.’ The rest is history.

I was on the mend from the opening scenes of ‘Yellow Submarine’ - a phantasmagoric, kaleidoscopic, fever dream of a children’s film and the first movie that prompted me to ask ‘How the hell did they do that?’ I formed my first production company at age 12. My first musical group at age 9 (I played the tennis racket). And in my work in the animation industry (‘Coraline’) to my successes in music and scriptwriting, I’ve been riffing on the questions posed by ‘Yellow Submarine’ ever since. Thank you, John, Paul, George, and Ringo.

“Film is the most singularly affecting art form. Good writing, technical discipline, psychology, visual artistry - this is what dreams are made of. This is how we kept each other entertained around the campfire for the last 1 million years.”
